Mrs.randall is reading Storm Runners.

Today is "digital learning day"! We will connect with two different classes on Skype!

This is Wednesday's POD. We found 3 different answers!

We practiced adding and subtracting numbers and talking about what we noticed

We buddy read an e-book called The Littlest Knight with another class from New Jersey. One half of the screen was the text and the other half was the picture of the other class. After, we played "mystery skype" so we could both find out the states we lived in. We introduced ourselves to the class. We will be creating a group on Edmodo so we can share documents with them.

We planned a cool science investigation with soda and pop rocks. Playing with carbon dioxide gas is fun!

We recorded our observations and made some claims and shared evidence.
For example,

Coke & orange soda wow look at the differences!!

we Skyped a new classroom in VT! We asked some specific questions and after we reflected on what worked and what didn't work for our next Skype for our VT game. Our new friends are in Rutland county at Killington Elementary School.

Jackson gave a book talk on the book I Survived the Shark Attacks of 1916 by Lauren Tarshis.

Malina is showing her crystals that she got from her dad.

A 10min. V.T write

What year we were born on?

Our new weekly reader

We gave feedback to Mr. B's students charts on area angles and perimeter.

Week of January 29

Today in math menu today many of us started a new problem solver called Trees. We are working on finding perimeter in this problem.

We finished our read aloud book Shadow by Michael Morpurgo. We voted on our next read aloud text today!

Today we shared strategies on finding the area of different polygons. After, we practiced finding both the area and perimeter.

Writers practiced using different elements and techniques. We noticed while reading Kevin O'Malley's book Straight to the Pole. We are looking deeper into sparking our voice as writers.

This is the chart we created! Mrs. Randall gave us a book jacket prompt that we used for our 7 minute write. It was called Lost in the Woods.

Mrs.Randall is showing the class new books and we chose Storm Runners for our read aloud book.

Today we finished a sheet about solids, liquids and gas.

We brainstormed for wondering Wednesdays.

We worked on the perimeter and area of shapes.

We found it easier to find the area and perimeter of squares because all of the sides are the same length.

We read the book straight to the pole by Kevin o' Malley. We noticed how he used voice in his writing.

We had a Skype to guess the county and school for our " Where in Vt. are you ?"

Today we figured out if some of these angles were a obtuse angle right angle or straight angle acute angle.

During math on Thursday we had a end of unit assessment, on Friday Mrs. Randall hinted that our next unit involves subtraction.

Mrs. Randall is reading Storm Runners on Friday when we realized each chapter is a different time of day.

Malina's artsy dad drew a puzzle piece that she said go's to a really big puzzle the size of our classroom...

On Friday we did a science experiment were we crumple up a piece of paper and put it in a cup of water or water mixed w the substances above.

We noticed that the dish soap was heavier so when we put the paper in it opened up (from the crumpled form) and sank. We figured that the soap lowers the surface tension of the water!

Have a good weekend!
