Week of Tuesday the 29th

 

During reading our focus was how can you distinguish your thinking from the authors.

This is a reading survey we completed to think about how much we've grown as readers!

For writing we worked on our Vermont hero work on the computer. We looked closely at our checklist to see what our focus is.

This was are job for math today. We created subtraction stories to give our numbers context!

On Wednesday we had a field trip to Preston pond in Bolton we all had a good time. We each chose an organism to research.

This is where we ate lunch.

Maddy caught a Eft!

We stoped a couple times and talked about things then joted down what we saw.

Today we had elf we learned about honeybees.

This was our math work for today after we did an end of unit assessment on subtracting large numbers. We all have efficient strategies!

Today we made a June calendar. We added important dates so we are organized and prepared.

Justin finished Fastt math! Good job Justin.

Ms. Yates came in to tell us about move up day! We are all very excited to be a 5th grader. We won't be here on Monday!

This was our brain warm up for math, we were learning about estimating!

We were working really hard to finish our POD, it is about money combinations! This took us a long time! That showed perseverance and good team work!

Week of May 19

The first chick! Happy Birthday little guy!
Some more chicks, a while after hatching. So fluffy!

We played close to 7500. The object of the game is to add up numbers and get close to 7500.
These are our book responses for our literature groups. Each picture is a groups' work.
Today we did a science investigation. This is a picture of Maddy's results.
For the end our our investigation, we took time to write our final review on which material to use for de-icing roads. This is Caitlyn, Julia, and Maddy working on their pieces.
Quiet meditation time. Abbey, Kayla, Bella, and Emma are having quiet time.
During reading we work on a sheet about can kids stop kids from smoking. We wrote down our thoughts about the article.
Avrie reading while snack. Must be a really great book!!!
A group during guidance planing how to 'survive' on an island. Can they make it?

Today in math we did a story problem.The Focus was: We will use efficient stratagies to add/subtract using clear and concise notation for recording.

The math trio working their minds silly! They're doing great!!!
Julia and Sydney are showing expected behavior and filling out their 'narrow it down' sheet for Current Events. We also are talking about the article on the white board, and deciding our three words to focus on.

Week of May 12th

Week two of our literature circles!

 

 

Taylor is helping Jack clean his desk.

Nicholas is chilling out and eating his snack.

These are our brooder box plans. The brooder box is the box we are going to put the chicks in.

In the computer lab we are researching our wax museum character.

Our Jam master leads a jam each day.

In math we are reviewing our notes from the beginning of the year. We added some benchmark examples into our math journal.

Our class is working on travel problems!

Abbey and Taylor are playing a new game called Math Noodlers! Thank you Mrs. Randall for getting us a new game!

We invited some engineers from IBM to do some fun science investigations with us!

They helped us test our water samples.


Mr. Vinson is showing us the sheet he will be handing out. We used it to compare our result colors.

This was a fun skateboard investigation in science.

Mrs. Kirby was our guest teacher on Friday.

Today after snack we had some quiet time with the lights off. Then we kept the lights off until math.

Today we played a new game called Close to 7,500. The objective is to add four digit numbers to get as close to that number as possible.
