Our first three days-building community

This week we focused on getting to know each other. Our objective was to develop empathy for others and build skills for learning. The purpose is to get along with others and reach our hopes and dreams!

Here is a glimpse of our time together!

Our classroom family!

We learned more about each other when we went on a scavenger hunt-we brought this home to share!

We met with our small team and agreed on a team name. After, we created a poster that will hang on our desk family.

Team Earth!

The Vermonters!

The Motivational Speakers!

A picture of Team Lake Monsters will be posted next week. One of our family members went home sick.

We created our hopes and dreams in our writer's notebook.

After, we shared our goals. We explained our plan for accomplishing our goal and asked for support people who might help us along the way.

We each had a picture of us taken with the mini iPad, emailed it to ourselves and then created thought bubbles about what we were thinking on our first day of fourth grade using Google Drawing.

We have a stair master! When we need a motor break, and the JAM Master is busy, we get a workout on this fitness machine.

In Second Step, we practiced showing empathy by being respectful. We discussed the lyrics to the song, Walk, Walk, Walk and shared how important is is to try and walk in someone's shoes to learn more about them.

We practiced listening with attention as our elbow buddy shared their dream weekend.

We brought items in that describe us and created the cover of our writer's notebook.

We discussed what class jobs we would need and created a mini-me.

We explored an informational text called Writers Express and each team worked together to complete a word puzzle.

We observed and added what it looks like and sounds like in our classroom when we show respect.

We had a fun first week!

I'm sure you've read many books over the summer. My goal was to read all the DCF books! I'm almost done! This is the one I just finished!

I can't wait to hear about one of your favorite reads!

See you August 27th!
