Mrs.Randall's class week

Monday
Ms.Yate's taught us for half of the day.

We did a p.o.d which is problem of the day. We used the use or make a table strategy.

We did track and field in gym.

We played math games for math block

We also did a math pg. on The Boston Marathon.

We made Motion graphs and we wrote stories to go with them.

This is Bella's & Abby's Graph

For reading we are doing a chart called: Laguage that signals new learning

We are also reading Storm by Seymour Simon

All of us are reading nonfiction text to practice using language that signals new learning. For example, "I didn' know that!"

Mrs.Randall returns at 11:22

For read aloud we read part of Woods Runner by: Gary Paulsen

For social studies we did a legislative piece called bill passing were trying to agree with the other people In Mr.Botzojorns. The biggest issue for the committee was banning smoking on state grounds and parks.

we passed the 1st part of the bill mabey the second or the third but we will do further discussion

This meeting got heated! A ban on smoking is an issue we all have a strong opinion on!

So does the other class. But should they kill the bill or pass it? Tough choice.

Tuesday

This morning we saw 10 chicks have cracks in them so tomorrow we will have a least 1full grown chick.

We also did a estimation paper consisting of multiplication and division .

We are going over the estimating answers.

Josh is telling us how he estimated this equation.

We are doing a writing project called oh the places you will go. We wrote about what we hope to do or be when we grow up.

At 9:45 am a little baby chick hatched peep peep peep.

Do you see him?

After we saw fireball (the chick). We went to the cafeteria we heard acapella selects from MMU.

When we came back we heard chirping.

Here is Josh working on his hot air balloon.

We also read Malian's song by: Marge Bruchac. It was about a young Abenaki girl who lives in the mid-18th century. It is a true story of an attack on her village. We also did postings on this book that showed our reading thinking.

We are reading woods runner by: Gary Paulson . It's about this boy named Samuel who lived in the woods. There are 3 parts to this book.

At 1:20 pm a new chick hatched his name is Anrgy Bird.

Wednesday

Quick share about are speeches for the wax Museum were doing on June 4th.

Almost all the chicks hatched exept one.it might have died. We have 13 healthy chicks!

Thursday

This morning we are going to burry the dead chick and do speeches to represent Johnny.

During math intervention Mrs. Randall showed us a fun game on our class page! We are working on noticing patterns and finding a rule to solve problems. In this site, you have a mission to use mental math and then design a rule.

After Mrs. Randall read us the booK, Oh, the Places You'll Go! By Dr. Seuss, we each made a hot air balloon with what we want to do in the future. They look great!

In math we noticed patterns and created algebraic expressions to support our thinking.

we are reviwing our fall unit on interdependence life Science about organisms.

Small groups work together on mini-research projects focusing on our science interpendence unit.

This group is working on butterfly's .

Friday

In Spanish we learned about agreement adjectives.

In math we did math games from our class pages.

In math, we focused noticing patterns and creating a rule to solve. We created algebraic expressions-

(y x 7)+6 = n

In gym we played some soccer. Twe blue and yellow team tied.

In literacy we did a reading survey and some guided reading groups met.

We Skyped a classroom in Burlington to compare and contrast our embryology data.

Good luck to all runners on Sunday! Mrs. Randall is running 26.2 miles, Lily is running 5.5, and Ms. Graf is running 3.1 miles! Come to Burlington and check out the Vermont City Marathon!
