Week of December 8, 2014

Andrew is the M.M.L for our new week. (Morning Meeting Leader) The week starts off with a lot of news, # and I mean a lot of news.

Today for P.O.D we did handing out buttons! We noticed. Pattern, than applied the pattern by keeping a running total.

Wow 2 ways,a sentence stater,and a chart.

For math we worked on perenthesis. It was awsome! We break apart challenging equations into two smaller ones.

Porter is working on hour of code he just finished one whole course! go Porter!

We played a fun game called big array small array.

Ask you're fourth grader to teach the game to you.

For second step We watched a video, there was a boy who had a test and he got his test back and it was not the best. his friend looked over and made a big deal out of it, the boy with the test felt mad and sad he felt like punching him, but he didn't. he calmed down and agreed but he said "I'm not that good at spelling but I'm good at math".

Isabelle brought her me bag she has a cool bird collection! Most of her family lives in Germany and Hawaii. Wow! She is great at drawing.

Mia finish fast math multiplication on to division. She picked problem by Arena granda. Who will be next!

For second step, we learned strategies to be respectful of others, solve problems so we can all work together successfully, state problem without blame.

Aidan,Copper,Alex and Jackson are playing tri-facta. It's a fun math game we are playing for math menu.

Andrew and Owen are working on their Glog. Owen is working on Washington county and Andrew is working on Chittenden county. It is very cool.

As literary essayists, we are using our notes to guide our essay. We each have a thesis statement and evidence from the text to back up our thinking.
This is a book club that meets a couple times a week. They are reading an informational text that connects to our social studies unit on civics and government. Not pictured, Greta.

Khan Academy-we are each on our own learning path and we get to code as well!
Victory! One site Mrs. Randall is using for programming this week is code combat. It's awesome!!
This group has been working very hard over days on one of the problem solvers! Great perseverance!

For read aloud we are reading I am Malala this is an intense memoir! We are having powerful conversations!

This is Malala's family.

Red Cat came today and Tom talked about the speakers that amplifie the teacher's or student's voice. Light speed technology is the company, red cat is there "mini name." They used infrared to transfer the person's voice from the person too the speaker.

Today we resented our county research by sharing our glogs. This Mia's presentation. Her county is Rutland.

This is Andrews Glog, he is working on maple trees in Jericho and maple products at Palmers maple store.

Good luck to Isabelle, Sofia (Mrs. Randall's daughter) and Alec's sister in the Nutcracker at the Flynn!

Your friendly bloggers,

Mia and Porter

Week of December 1, 2014

This is us working on our new unit!

Alex finished division on Fastt Math!

Andrew had a celebration and picked Pixar shorts!

This short is called LaLuna.

All week we did Just Dance as a JAM!

Bring out your moves Mrs.Randall!

Cooper brought in his me-bag.

His me-bag included glasses, a book, a hat, and soccer gear.

We read a new book called in my momma's kitchen which is about a girl who believes everything good happens in her momma's kitchen. We are literary essayists who are gathering evidence to support our focus.

Andrew made this book about himself. He worked with Mrs. Randall using a fun app called Book Creator!

Aidan beat the game on math menu. We added this fun multiplication and division app to practice our skills and use different visual models.

We watched a video with Taylor Swift with 11-15 year old kids talking about how special it is to read and write. Mrs. Randall added it to our Edmodo group so we can finish watching it on our own time. We will start book groups next week. We observed how they kept a conversation going and showed listening with respect.

We reviewed our work on writing a literary essay.

These are our notes.

This is our class working on scholastic news. People sign up to lead discussions or debates. We use the digital version of Weekly Reader.

One of Mrs. Randall's groups presented how to write a reading letter to a buddy.

During the short video, La Luna, we wrote bullets that we noticed and then did a short write

We are housing our county research on a google doc. After we will create our Glog!

Criteria sheet

We used a data table to track data from our pod. We noticed a pattern and then applied the pattern. Keeping a running total was helpful!

Have a good weekend!

Celia and Owen
