Our week-we didn't have school Mon. due to MLK day

  • In math we reviewed our fraction adding homework and also did extra fraction adding, we're quite good it (see picture above)
  • Also we did fractions out of a 10x10 array and learned that the smaller the denominator the bigger the fraction.
  • At break we showed our county industry slides
  • In reading we finished our t~shirts
  • In health we started a new unit :germs

Wednesday

  • At math we made fractions on a 6 x 4 grid and proved that the fractions were true
  • we mentally added fractions( see picture above)
  • Mr.Lane came in to talk about problems(see picture below)
  • We also performed some of our problems in front of the class and voted on them.
  • In science we did a experiment to learn about how data can be organized into different types of representation so that our audience can draw conclusions.
Thursday 
  • For POD, we used the strategy; make an organized list. For example we needed to figure out how to make different combinations for 24 out of 12,6, and 4.
  • In math we continued to add fractions. We also watched a cool video Lesson on adding fractions on Edmodo. We did some fun practice on Edmodo too!
  • In writing we continued our legacy writing project pieces. Some of us are using Kidspiration to organize before we begin drafting.
  • In health we talked about a certain type of germs:bloodborne pathogens


Friday

  • We evacuated due to carbon monoxide in our school (don't worry, we're ok)
  • In math we added fractions with like/unlike denominators
  • we read a book called matter and its properties(see picture below)
  • In writing we did more writing on our legacy project. Many of us held peer conferences.

Week of Monday Jan 9

Doing our math review 
  • We had extra read aloud.
  • In gym we did circus 
  • In math we did a review game to help with with our traditional algorithm for subtraction problems.
  • Some of us went to work with Ms. Minor, our student teacher. We also had an end of unit assessment on traditional algorithm and left to right strategy.  We started our new unit -fractions and decimals.

  • Emaligh,Emma,and Mia did a readers theater in click clack moo cows that type.  In writing we looked at bench mark pieces to help us write our "Legacy" piece.  Everyone has done a nice job with their interviews!
  • We spent writing time conferencing on our interview pieces.

  • In science we went over Mr.Botzorjorn's class data from their science experiment.
  • It was our reading check point for the 25 plus club.  Mrs.Randall gave everyone a new book and bookmark!

Tuesday Jan 3


  • We had all school morning meeting
  • In math some of us played Division Quizmo. 
  • We started our Heath class unit on drugs and mediction. We learned the four categories of drugs and medicon.
  • We continued our math unit on fractions and decimals.
  • In Social studies we continued our govermont and economy unit
  • Wednesday
  • We had a sub named Mrs.Thompson because the fourth grade teachers wanted to see Mrs. Randall teach.
  • In math we played a fun review game during Math intervention game
  • In our fraction unit we continued dividing rectangles.
  • In guidance we did circle of supports where we write down 1-4 of people we would talk to about our problems.
  • For writing Mrs.Randall came to our classroom for the teachers to see how her teaching skills were.  The lesson was fun!  
  • In health class we Looked at different kinds of medicine.
  • Ms. Minor taught a fun lesson on the three branches of government!  
  • Thursday
  • Health class-we talked about how bad smoking is for you.
  • We had Art- we painted whatever we wanted.  I painted a fish.
  • Friday
Ceilidh and Mrs.Randall met to load some new books onto their Nooks!  Ms. Minor was sad...she doesn't have one.

Ms. Minor taught a lesson on the branches of government.
