Week of February 10, 2014

We got our literature circles on Monday! We met and planned our reading so that we could present our new knowledge next Tuesday.

Here's one of our books that a group is reading.

During math we needed to solve this problem: How many hundreds are in ten thousands?

We got our answer: 100!
Then we started to make a 10,000 charts
Today we finished our 10,000 charts! Each pair was responsible for a row of 1,000! It took a lot of perseverance!

Time for science, today we learned about States of Matter.

On Tuesday we had a "paws" celebration called: Stop drop and read! It was great! We all read a choice book.

We worked on our active reading skills and supporting our thinking with evidence in a piece called "Survival Skills". It is from the Vermont Item Bank.

On Wednesday we continued to discuss our literature circle books.

On Thursday we conferenced about what we did in literature circles.

A group made a jeopardy game about their book.

During math we had to write a letter to a third grader about how many 10s are in 10,000. We will deliver them next week.

In Science we watched a video about making snow. We are organizing our testable questions.

During Guidance we had to work with a partner put one arm behind our backs and fold a piece of paper a bunch of times it was really hard! We are working on positive self talk and not blame others.
