Week of December 7, 2015

We got a cool video from our new friends in Argentina! We learned a lot about their country!

Have you ever heard of the Heifer program? We are learning about economics and poverty in social studies and in our read aloud book! You should check it out!

We watched some videos about economy. The first one is about the dollar bill, and we learned that the two symbols on the back of it are the two sides of the great seal.

On Friday, we did bedtime math and learned about a person who printed counterfeit money. We did math about $50 and $100.

We have been working on hour of code this week!

On Friday it was sports day. Lots of people wore their jerseys!

We work on our #bookselfies.

More ways to reply to text!

We started our geometry and length/width units.

Anna K. and Alek finished multiplication! Congratulations!!

Our student of the week! She had a very large "me" bag!

Our Jam Master has been busy leading some break motor breaks and calming exercises.

We participated in a virtual field trip to China! We gathered questions for Anthony so he can answer them when he Skypes us from there!

Mrs. Pratt taught us a new game called Collaborative Cards. We worked our brains really hard and figured out the answers.

We checked our work with friends and taught each other new strategies.

After we do our math work, we use this template to self-check.

We watched this calming down video on GoNoodle. It was about not giving up and we thought that it connected to Mrs. Randall's group.

We are doing opinion pieces in writing. Below, we are working on I wonder opinion pieces.

We use this template for our opinion pieces.

To show what we are thinking some of us drew pictures for our I wonder pieces in writing.

We are writing bullets of things and people that we love and are important to us.

We are calling and E-mailing our businesses.

Mrs. Randall's reading group is learning about taxes.

We write in our notebooks about things we love. Owen shares his cool mechanical toy skateboards.

We started a new math unit! Geometry and measurement!

To learn more about geometry, we used glow sticks to make shapes. We started with basic geometric shapes, then got more challenging. Mrs Randall is starting an after school math program where you can do fun stuff like this!

We are making continuous squares!

This group made lots of small squares...60! We also use styrofoam balls to make 3-D shapes.

We use triangles to make hexagons.

We use the glow sticks to make a base and stick tiny glow sticks in the balls to make them glow and make a pyramid.

This group made a 3-D cube!

From Emmy and Owen
