Week of April first

Monday

Today Jackson and Sadie showed their subtraction problem. The problem is Jackson has 99 marbles. He gave Sadie 58 marbles. How many marbles does Jackson have left? Can you solve this problem?

We got a new math bingo work sheet at math intervention. Together we added some choice items and will be working on our sheets for two weeks.

We are reading an article about girls education. Did you know over 121 million people don't go to school, Almost 65 million of them are girls. Some countries don't even think girls should go to school. I don't think that's fair that only boys should go to school, do you think it's fair?

We also read about a kid called T.J. He helped raised $1,325 for the less fortunate people. UNICEF is helping 158 countries and territories get food supplies, clean water, vaccines to protect people from diseases and school supplies and emergency relief to children and their families.

Today in science we talked about properties of matter.

Tuesday

We have a guest teacher today. Her name is Mrs.Cole. Mrs. Randall was at a meeting about literacy. She was excited to share all that she learned!

We read about tigers and how in 1994 scientist predicted tigers would be extinct by the year of 2000, luckily that didn't happen.

Wednesday

Some fourth graders are doing a bike helmet safety survey.

We're playing a game called close to 1,000 in math.

Thursday

We got new books for our class library.

We have been working on using the habit of mind -perseverance. Two students are working on a challenging problem solver and not giving up or asking for adult support!

We are reviewing are stratiges for subtraction for our end of unit assessment on Friday.

We are reading a new weekly reader called "A fighting chance"

We are watching Night at the Museum today to celebrate our paws points!

We had are end of unit assement today. They were all subtraction problems except for the first problem.

In reader's workshop, we worked on reading a text more than once. The benefit is amazing! The text was challenging and was taken from the informational text called Show Me The Money. We read it last week and this week. After buzzing with a buddy, we went around the class playing "give one get one". We give a fact and get a new one from a friend. We now have a better understanding of the facts!

These are some of our questions.

Some of our topics from our Weekly Readers work this week are-

-A famous art museum highlights video games

-Scientists finally film the legendary giant squid

-Should females in the military fight in combat?

-Should singers lip-synch?

Thanks for looking at our blog! Have a nice weekend!

Jackson and Aspen
