Week of November 12

P.O.D was challenging this week. we are learning about a new strategy called "guess, check, and think/revise". It's helpful when the problem gives you only the total number and that you have to split it the way given. Also if it says one person has twice as much as the other person and you don't have a clue, it gives you time to "think and revise" .

We shared our informational presentations and we wrote interesting facts from each presentation to write about after we finished. So far our pages are cramped up with cool facts!

We also did a "night sky observation" where we learned how to use a night sky locator and where the constellations are in this time of the year and what the planets look like. Some people are keeping logs on what they see in the sky so they can share it with us.

For our read aloud book were reading " the circuit " a memoir by Francisco Jiménez. Mrs. Randall appoints two people to be our " discussion leader " and our " Vocab enricher " the vocab enricher helps people build there vocabulary and in this book it seems there Spanish vocabulary. Our discussion leader asks people to recap so people can know what happened last if they weren't here.

In our Vermont study's we're doing a Skype project called " Where in VT. Are you?" It's very interesting because you gather questions in different groups and when we did the project on Friday our " Question commanders " ( Abe and Sam D. ) ask the person were Skype-ing questions to give away there location. It's quite fun!

During intervention we split up into groups and work on strategies and then come together and use those strategies to do our work and make Mrs. Randall proud of her work. This week we're learning a game called Missing Factors . And learned that a divisor is a " number by which another number is divided" and a dividend is a " number divided by another factor."

During snack on Tuesday J.P. shared his chickens and he and his dad told us facts about them, I noticed one that it looked like a cheetah and Jordan P. said that it's its name should be cheeka ... Which is Spanish for a girl.

We also did writing prompts about November . They were beautiful and really said stuff about what the person thought of November and thanksgiving.

We got to chose our " Paws points" celebration it was theme day! And the theme was ( drum roll please ) Career day, I think we might have to add the chart it's so much fun!

We played a fun Vermont geography bingo game to learn more about our state.

Sadie brought in her puppy Levi for share and through the ooo's and ahhh's we managed to take a picture of Levi and Sadie together.

Happy Thanksgiving, Isabella M. Souza and Jacob Scott M.
