Week of March 10, 2014

On Monday we had word study and got new words. We started with a word sort to notice the pattern. Then, we go on a word hunt during readers workshop to add new words to our sort!

At morning meeting we played down by the banks.

In social studies we are talking about the representatives and senators

and we are making bills to try and make it into a law.

Some kids are sharing their bills and then we voted to find a class idea to present on our field trip to the State House.

Abbey, Kayla, Bella, and Nolan

We watched a video and talked about our representatives and senators. We discussed how the legislative branch works.

This is Mrs. Randall leading a shared writing lesson on how writers use boxes and bullets. Together we organized our thesis statement and evidence to back it up from our class idea.

We went to the Golden Dome/ State House. We traveled to our states capital, Montpelier!

We also went to the VT State museum.

At the museum we learned about the abanaki tribe/ native Americans.

And we also learned about the Revolutionary War and some tools and weapons back then.

These are some artifacts that were at the museum.
This is our idea! We pretended to get it passed by the house and senate.
This is the Cedar Creek room. Can you figure out what the area of this famous painting is if the dimensions are 10 feet by 20 feet?
In the Governors office!
This is the House of Representatives.
