Week of September 15, 2014

Our student of the week is Adah! These are some of the things we learned about her; she likes hats, drawing, and enjoys skateboarding. Next week our student of the week is Alec.

Cooper ran the color run and loved it!! Mrs. Randall and mrs. Lee were there too! There were over 5,000 runners!

Thank you to Owen for bringing in a luna moth cocoon! We are sharing it with Mrs. Dana's first grade class. They will teach us more about what they are learning in the life cycle. This moth should hatch on Monday!
Math menu has started! Our menu lasts for two weeks.

We spent some time investigating one of our science questions using the. NASA site! Do you know why we have seasons?

These two mathematicians are working together on a problem solver!

We all have a knowledge map on Khan Academy! Part of our math menu is spent focusing on a skill we need to practice or a challenge.

One of our math strategies we have used is acting out the problem. We are using different manipulatives or visual models to support our understanding. This mathematician is using a 300's chart to skip count. She is finding the multiples of a number.

Ask us about how to play the game Multiple Turn Over! We can bring math games home to teach you!

Do you know what a factor or multiple is?

Check out our personal newspapers in the hallway! We also created our first QR code!!

In teams, we created a route for our bus driver that will take us to Lake Champlain Maritime Museum next week! We are learning about Vermont geography!

We wrote bio poems to help share information about each other. Then we created a QR code to connect it to! If you want to read our poem, you will need a QR code reader app!

We continued to read books about caring. We each took one of our reading thoughts and elaborated on our note.

Our inspiration board is getting full! We are all inspiring each other!

We enjoyed a nice walk on our walking path, thanks to Andrew! He helped us earn lots of PAWS points!
In our math journal, we chose 5 multiplication combinations that we're challenging for us. Then, we found a combination that we know as a starter equation.
In current events, we looked at a line graph that showed how much space junk has been found over the years.

This has been a wonderful week! We can't wait to show you our QR codes at open house!

Greta and Theo
