Week of September 29, 2014

We are working on a social studies project in our family groups. We are created a detailed Vermont map to use in our geography unit. The next time we travel around Vermont, ask us to keep track on a map!

These students are presenting their math strategy during POD.

We are developing our characters and writing scenes in our narratives.

Our class support crew asks questions to help when someone is stuck.

Check out our red box-really it's our read box! We will add book recommendations to this all year!

We are using different visual models-like creating an array using unifix cubes.

Teams presented why and how the factors of 16 are also factors of 48.

We wrote multiplication stories and solved each other's challenges.

Word study-groups met and completed a word sort and noticed more about their spelling pattern.

We play games on Spellingcity through out the two week session.

Readers have increased the time on task during readers workshop.

We wrote in our writers notebookon a reflective prompt. Ask us what we thought!

This group is working together on a math problem.

Mrs. Randall and Cooper pose for a picture in their color run gear.

This student is working in the digital version of the weekly reader.

Having fun learning together!

Everyone needs a little fun in class!

Our class discussion and debate-check out our news magazine!

Owen was student of the week and shared his me bag. Next week Amos will be student of the week.

In science, we noticed all of the cool organisms in our water sample from Lake Champlain. Mrs. Fary had her students use super microscopes to take pictures and video of what is in the water!!

Wow!!!

Porter shared a great new writing text we will be using in class!

We watched a video about Galileo Galilei. One of his quotes is in our read aloud book! After, we listened to an interview with the author Jennifer Holm.

We thought this was powerful, so we printed it out and added it to our inspiration board.

We can't wait to begin communicating with others around the world next week as part of the Global Read Aloud Project! We will do two mystery Skypes! After, we will join an Edmodo group and discuss the text through writing!

Have a great weekend! Maybe we will see you at the makerfaire! Check out the link below!
