Week starting on May 6th

 

Week of May 6 ,2013

Monday!
In math today we worked on our pod, some people used the guess check and revise to solve.

A man from Maritime museum talked to us about a very cool subject! The mans name in Rich. Rich talked about lake Champlain and the Revolutionary war. Do you know about the Revolutionary war? And how Vermont was involved?

Next we went to our literature circle group the books we are reading is about Vermont at different time periods.

After reading we chose who to be for the wax museum! Who would you want to be?

In social studies we Skyped a class to try and guess where they were in Vermont. We ended up finding they were in Washington county, the town was Northfield and their school was Northfield elementary school.

Before we left we looked at the eggs they have started to develop more.

Tuesday!

Today in reading we continued our book groups this group is reading their book right now in the picture.

We also talked about expectations for book groups/literature circle. We created this list to help us remember.

In social studies we started researching who we chose for the Wax museum.

today is Jacob's birthday and last week he completed fast math. Go Jacob.

 

Wednesday!

Next Taylor shared her mystery metal.

In writing we talked about the wax museum and how to best conduct our research. We have a focus question and we are making claims about how our figure made an impact on our state.

This is the iner circle researching the person they are doing for the wax museum, and then making claims and backing it up with evidence.

Today during read aloud we started part 3 of our book. Sadie is our discussion leader.

In social studies we Skyped people from Grand Isle the town was south Hero and their school was Folsom education center.

Then before we went home we played on the playground. We played tag and Mrs. Randall was it! Best social studies ever! Wasn't even planned! Mrs. Randall is the best teacher ever!

Thursday!

Today we filled out a paper that shows parts of a egg.

In music we played drums

Around math we had science NECAPS.

At read allowed Megan read to us instead of Mrs. Randall because Mrs. Randall was getting Sofia!

Today we had elf Malina's mom and Sadie's mom came in to teach us! They taught us about bird songs. Jorden p, Gabe and Lucas helped us by performing in the puppet show about birds.

We also listened to bird calls do you know what bird this is?

Then we did some activities outside

Friday!

Today we finished our NECAPS! Yay!

After NECAPS we worked on unit three-addition and subtraction and then went went to book groups

This is the Captive of Pittsford ridge group. Right now they are discussing about their book. Have you read this book?

Before we went home we read the weekly reader. This weeks discussion is should kids have recess every day? What do you think?
