First full week!

Monday we talked about what it looks like and sounds like during readers and writers workshop. After creating a chart, we practiced! First we practiced buzzing about text. Then we practiced talking back to the book using post it notes while staying in one reading spot! We could do it for almost 20 minutes!

Reading is thinking! We did a lot of thinking while Mrs. Randall read us a book about respect!
We are participating in a design challenge! As part of our solar system unit, we are working with NASA scientists to help find a way to keep astronauts safe from harmful radiation on their upcoming flight in July2014! Our names will be flown in Orion! Ask us about our research! We got to meet the experts!
We use our science notebooks to organize our independent research project questions.
In math, we are reviewing a pre-assessment and learning more about understanding the question before choosing a strategy to solve.
As mathematicians, we generated questions to ask ourselves to make math work that is clear for our audience.
As writers, we have been working on narrative pieces where we explode the moment. We can't wait for you to read our newspapers.
Magic! We have a magician in our room!
Readers explore non-fiction articles and work together to dig deeper in the text. Ask us about how elements of non-fiction text helps us better understand the content. We are trying out some of these techniques as writers too!
Happy Friday!!

Kate
