Week of January 26, 2015

This is our focus for the week as part of Second Step.
Talking through the problem solving process is helpful.
On Edmodo, we have been discussing some bills in Vermont's legislature. Many of us are writing opinion pieces in support of a current bill.
This is a class game that helps us better understand who are the important people in our state government and what their job description is.
In math we are working on geometry and measurement. When was the last time you had to find the perimeter of something?
Using measuring tape. Seeking accuracy.
What is the difference between area and perimeter?
Support crew is a very important responsibility in our classroom.

Wondering Wednesday!!! Earlier in the week we watched a cool Ted Talk and discussed it on Edmodo. We were inspired to create, discover, or research! We shared our plan, materials, and hopes before getting started.

Book club- groups presented their text and shared what they learned.

We have heard many book talks this week! Here are some recommendations!

Porter and Owen are the the leaders of our read out loud book.

Malala was falling behind in school and she can now talk and walk. She is making progress! We are at a great part in our book!

We are in the drafting phase of our opinion pieces.
